If you had six months to live, what would you do? Her answer was “I would ride”.
I had a gorgeous email from a friend who’s just starting Journey to Feel. She said:
“… I’m reading a book called Empath to Mystic…. it asks us to do journaling, meditation and some exercises throughout. One of the questions it asked was “If you had 6 months to live what would you do”.
I was quite startled at the answer I was given.
I would ride – I WOULD RIDE. I have everything else I need…. but riding my horse, that’s what I’d do.
So you see, if that is my deepest desire in the last six months of my entire life… then I really need to get this Feel thing sorted. :-)”
I know from my email inbox that there’s lots of people in the same boat as my friend. They might not be sure what it is that’s keeping them off their horse, but something sure is keeping them from experiencing that wonderfully alive, deeply connected feeling that we get on the back of a horse – when everything is going really beautifully. (Of course, we don’t have to RIDE to get that feeling either – as we experience in our programs, all kinds of lovely ways of being with our horse can bring up those feelings.)
So is it a lack of confidence issue? Tension or unpredictability in your horse? Lack of motivation coming from a mysterious place? (Lack of motivation ALWAYS comes from somewhere valid and getting to the bottom of that is automatically motivating.)
Now I’m going to ask you something that might open up those questions. HOW do you want to ride? Do you want the feelings of that childhood dream? Or are you truly happy with how you and your horse feel when you ride?
What would you want to do if you had six months to live?
See you in the comments for that one!
Today’s photo is Kristina and Rocky over in Perth. The message that came with the photo said “Out exploring the 1000 acre bushland or at least some of the trails today- all by our selves. Had a great time!!”

Thanks for the motivation Jenny. 😀 <3

lol You’re welcome!

😀 Mine’s quite specific whether I’ve got 6 months or not. After lock down, hire Sue’s arena and walk the five kilometres there with my mare, Lady – not riding because I’ve never ridden her in the four and a half years I’ve had her. Once there have one of my Fast Track one hour sessions with Jenny with the aim of sitting on Lady and maybe, just maybe, walking a bit. :O 😀

Well you don’t have to wait for six months to live for that one! As soon as we’re out of lockdown, let’s make a date and I’ll come to you. How about you do the prep work that’s in Fast Track while we’re in lockdown so as to get the most out of your live sessions? <3 <3

If I only had 6 months to live I would probably feel duty bound to keep doing the bookwork for the business, clean my house, sort out all my belongings and find and train someone to do the office work. (I’d have to apply for an extension of time) What I’d like to do would be left on the back burner just as it is now.

Crikey Jan, that’s terrible – not the priorities, I get that, I’d probably be doing some of the same things – but the leaving the best stuff on the back burner. I’ve done that for too long and have changed that dramatically recently by having lessons that require I pull my finger out and focus on the horses more. And mannn I am LOVING it! You still have some left don’t you? Would you like me to apply a boot up the rear end???? lol!

yes I would ride is top of my list too, if I couldnt ride for some reason I would still sit in the paddock with my horses. In fact in my health thingy, whatever it is called one of my desires if I am incapacitated in a home is to smell a horse, and have them nuzzle my face!

The smell of a horse is sooo… special hey? If I’m still around by then, I’ll help organise it! <3
